If latest statistics on offer are any indication, the union capital is indeed a dangerous place for visiting foreigners.

The numbers of crime against foreigners are on the rise. Worse, there is a new trend witnessed here in the recent murder of a British national last week.

The fatal attack now includes men as well while foreign women have predominantly been preyed upon in the past in the capital.

In yet another major embarrassment over safety of foreign nationals in the national capital, decomposed body of a British national was found in Bhogal area of Nizamuddin in southeast Delhi.

Prior to this event, majority of foreign victims were either female across age groups.

Not too far, in the month of January this year, a Danish woman was beaten and gang-raped in New Delhi’s Paharganj area. Last year in April, a foreign national, in her early twenties, was found murdered in mysterious circumstances in a guesthouse again in Paharganj area of Delhi.

According to the annual statistics of Delhi Police criminal activities against foreign nationals has increased by 59 per cent in 2013 over 2012.

In just three and a half months this year (till April 15th 2014), 12 criminal cases against foreign national have already been registered by Delhi Police.

While Delhi police have recorded data under crime heads like miscellaneous theft, snatching, molestation of women, rape, cheating, eve teasing pick pocketing and drugging, no record on murders of foreign nationals has been maintained.
The data on Delhi further reports that in 2013, 29.4 per cent of the total criminal cases registered against foreign national were untraced. The percentage was even higher at 43.8 per cent and 70 per cent in 2012 and 2011 respectively.
Out of all the recorded crime heads in Delhi Police report, miscellaneous theft is reportedly the highest registered crime against foreigners in Delhi.
