Investigation into farmer's suicide at AAP rally on, says Rajnath

New Delhi: Amid Delhi Police's accusations on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for instigating farmer Gajendra Singh's suicide, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said the investigation is still on in the case.

"Investigation is going on. I can't comment on the issue as of now," said Singh.

According to reports, the Delhi Police has submitted an interim report to the Union Home Ministry on the farmer who committed suicide during the AAP's recent rally at the Jantar Mantar against the land ordinance. The Delhi Police has reportedly said in its report that the AAP workers and the crowd instigated the farmer to climb the tree.

Earlier on Wednesday, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi had said that the farmer's post mortem report confirmed that he died from hanging.

He also said that the Delhi Police is a part of the government and there was no infighting with anyone.

Senior AAP leaders had earlier accused the Delhi Police of being responsible for his death, alleging that the Centre is using the force as its puppet.

As per reports, a suicide note was found that revealed the farmer, who had three children, was banished from his house after his crop was damaged. He took the extreme step because he had no means of support his family.
