Haridwar: For the Haridwar Assembly seat, there are nine candidates contesting in the 2017 Uttarakhand polls.
- Chief Minister Harish Rawat now trailing from Haridwar Rural seat.
They include candidates from UKD, Bahujan Samaj Party, BJP and INC.
This time around, the Congress has fielded a 'sadhu' - Brahm Swaroop Brahmchari - from this constituency to take on the BJP.
Brahmchari, 60, is the oldest candidate in his constituency.
Contesting against him is BJP's Madan Kaushik, three-term sitting MLA.
52-year-old candidate from the saffron party is said to be richest in the constituency and has two criminal cases against him.
Kaushik is said to have brought more than 50 activists of the Congress, Samajwadi Party and the BSP into the BJP’s fold earlier this year.
