Vedder, Grohl to pay tribute to Nick Drake

Eddie Vedder, Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters and Norah Jones are among the acts confirmed for a tribute album to influential singer Nick Drake.

London, Jan 20: Pearl Jam`s Eddie Vedder, Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters and Norah Jones are among the acts confirmed for a tribute album to influential English singer-songwriter Nick Drake, who died in 1974.
The set will be released by musician Jack Johnson`s Brushfire Records, and Johnson also will also perform on the album.
The announcement was made during the MidemNet music industry conference in Cannes, France, by David Schulhof, whose company, EverGreen Copyrights, controls the rights to Drake`s work. The recording process was filmed for release as part of a DVD package. It will also include the late actor Heath Ledger`s version of the song "Black Eyed Dog," filmed in late 2007 for a multimedia installation about Drake but never officially released. Drake was little known when he died of a drug overdose at age 26. But his influence has mushroomed in the ensuing decades, and his profile received an astronomical boost when his song "Pink Moon" was used in a Volkswagen ad in 2000. Bureau Report
