When Bollywood beauty Chitrangada was declared a ‘man’

Chitrangada can be remembered as the stop-and-stare Smita Patil look-alike who gives exceptional performances in out-of-league but critically acclaimed movies. And the most striking thing about her is that though western dresses look chic on her, the woman looks absolutely stunning in sarees. Mumbai, April 22: Chitrangada can be remembered as the stop-and-stare Smita Patil look-alike who gives exceptional performances in out-of-league but critically acclaimed movies. And the most striking thing about her is that though western dresses look chic on her, the woman looks absolutely stunning in sarees. Now when such a beauty is mistaken for a man, one is bound to do a double take. This is what happened, if her elector’s id card is to be believed.
The actor is a very dedicated and responsible citizen. She says she’s done her homework on the candidates in her constituency, on the various political parties and their manifestos, and has even started a campaign on a social networking site to get people to go out and vote. “I just hope they don’t ask me to stand in the guys’ queue because of their own goof-up,” says Chitrangda. Her ordeal started when she shifted to Gurgaon from Meerut, and applied for a change of address in her voter ID card. She claimed, “I had a hard time. The officials there would keep postponing it, saying kal aana, parson aana, abhi nahin banega, etc. The form kept lying there and I wondered when they were going to pick it up and work. I had to pull strings to get my voter ID! My PAN card didn’t take long, but the voter ID was tough, man.” Asked by a news daily if she would campaign for any politician, she got thinking, “Well... I don’t know. I’d have to have immense faith in the candidate and his/her work.” However, she declared grinning, “I might do it for Rahul Gandhi. I don’t think that (stars campaigning) helps, though – people are smart, they know the star isn’t the one to be held accountable.” Wise words! Hope the voter id card makers notice this beauty with brains.
