Shimla: Thousands of commuters were left stranded after the busy Manali-Chandigarh NH 21 got blocked due to a landslide between Kullu and Mandi.
As per reports, a big landslide near Hanogi Mata Mandir, close to the Aut tunnel blocked the road for over 12 hours.
Heavy rains have caused landslides in many other parts of the state.
Link roads were closed at many places in the interiors of Shimla, Mandi, Kullu and Sirmaur districts while two houses were endangered in Shimla following a major landslide but there was no loss of life.
About a dozen trees were uprooted in Shimla town in Kaithu, Khilini, Chaura Maidan and DC office but there was no major damage to property.
Yesterday, Shimla received with 79 mm rains and Kothi received 72 mm rains, followed by Dharamshala 56 mm, Sangrah 52 mm, Jubbar Hatti 51mm Mandi 22 mm, Pachhad 21mm, Baijnath 20 mm, Nahan 19 mm, Jogindernagar 17 mm, Khadrala 15 mm, Sundernagar 14 mm, Sarkaghat 9 mm and Jubbal and Nurpur 8 mm.
Minimum temperatures dropped marginally and Kalpa was coldest in the region with a low of 13 degrees Celsius while Keylong and Manali recorded minimum temperature at 15 degrees and 15.4 degrees, followed by Shimla 15.5 degrees, Dharamsala 16.4 degrees, Nahan 19.7 degrees, Solan 20.0 degrees, Bhuntar 21.4 degrees, Sundernagar 22.0 degrees and Una 25.3 degrees C.
