Lucknow: A day after the Uttar Pradesh Police said that some "personal matter" was likely the reason behind the daring murder of National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer Mohammad Tanzil Ahmed, two persons have been detained for questioning, police sources said on Thursday.

ANI quoted police sources as saying that the bike used in the murder of NIA Deputy SP Tanzil Ahmed has also been recovered.

It has been further revealed that the conspiracy to kill the NIA officer was hatched in his village Sahaspur, in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.

The police had yesterday said that it has already zeroed in on certain links in the case and hopes to crack it at the earliest.

 

"Data of his mobile phone, which was damaged in firing, has been recovered," IG (Economic Offence Wing) Deepak Ratan said yesterday.

"We are gradually zeroing in on certain links, especially some personal matters and are assessing forensic evidences. There are certain things which are indicating towards a personal matter," ADG (Law and Order) Daljeet Singh Chaudhary said yesterday, adding "We are hopeful to work out the case at the earliest."

On being asked about terror angle, the ADG said, "We are taking terror angle in full cognizance and a senior level ATS team with the help of other agencies are working. But as of now, it indicates personal matter, which is being probed extensively."

He said, "There were several matters, including professional and personal for which different teams have been constituted and are investigating them."

Tanzil Ahmed was killed by unidentified bike-borne gunmen on Saturday night.
