Citizenship applications of Sindhis being examined: Rajnath Singh

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that the cases of those hailing from the Sindhi community, who were still waiting for citizenship, were being examined and a decision would be taken as per the law of land.

 Lucknow: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that the cases of those hailing from the Sindhi community, who were still waiting for citizenship, were being examined and a decision would be taken as per the law of land.

While addressing a function on the occasion of Cheti Chand Jayanti, Rajnath said that around 300 applications have been received from his parliamentary constituency Lucknow alone and they were being examined.

He said that a decision would soon be taken in accordance with the law of the land.

Spokesman of of the Chait Chand fair committee Ashok Motiwani alleged that despite fulfilling all criterion, a large number of Sindhdis, were deprived of individual citizenship.

The community had been raising the issue since long and the Home Minister has assured to take a decision at the earliest on the 300 applications, he has received.
