Indian Navy's Independence Day celebrations

In order to foster patriotism amongst the future generation of India, Independence Day celebrations were organised by Southern Naval Command from August 1 to 14 with the theme 'Know Your Forces.'

Kochi: In order to foster patriotism amongst the future generation of India, Independence Day celebrations were organised by Southern Naval Command from August 1 to 14 with the theme 'Know Your Forces.'

As part of these celebrations, the Naval base and selected ships were kept open for organised trips from different schools and colleges of the city, according to a Navy release today.

Around 3,000 students from various schools and colleges such as Amrita Group of Institutions, Sacred Heart Public School, St Juliana, Dawn Public School, J&J Public School, Government High School and Smt Manoramabhai Mundle College of Architecture etc visited the Naval base and Indian Naval Ships INS Tir, INS Sarvekshak, INS Sujata and INS Sutlej during the period, Navy said.

The students were provided opportunity to witness live demonstration of various training facilities like Ship Handling Simulators, Water Survival Training Facility and Damage Control Training Facility.

In addition, a Band Display by the Naval Band was also organised for the school children from Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navy Children School etc.
