Sushma Swaraj the victim of BJP's 'gang-war', says Ashutosh

Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashutosh on Monday alleged that External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who is currently embroiled in deep controversy surrounding the support given by her to former IPL chairman Lalit Modi, has fallen victim to an enemy from within the Bharatiya Janata Party, further claiming that the party was currently witnessing a 'gang-war'.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashutosh on Monday alleged that External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who is currently embroiled in deep controversy surrounding the support given by her to former IPL chairman Lalit Modi, has fallen victim to an enemy from within the Bharatiya Janata Party, further claiming that the party was currently witnessing a 'gang-war'.

"There is a gang-war that has started within the BJP. In this war, a target has been placed onSushma Swaraj because she is a powerful leader within the BJP and is a possible prime ministerial candidate in the future. I think this was a leak perpetuated from within the party,"Ashutosh told ANI.

Swaraj on Sunday had said she had taken a humanitarian view of Lalit Modi's case since his wife was suffering from cancer.

She further said that British MP Keith Vaz had spoken to her on the same, adding she believes that giving an Indian citizen 'emergency travel documents' cannot spoil relations between India and the UK.

Vaz, who is facing an inquiry in the UK over the role he played in Modi receiving his travel papers, said that he had checked with the Indian Government before taking any action and added that he had received a 'no objection' from New Delhi.
