To save his obese children Gujarat man decides to sell off kidney

New Delhi: A labourer in Gujarat's Una tehsil is fighting a losing battle to ensure that his obese children lead a normal and healthy life, so-much-so that to afford their expensive treatment he is willing to even sell his kidney off.

Like all parents, Rameshbhai Nandwana and his wife are committed towards the health and well-being of their three children whose dietary expenses they are struggling to meet.

Their eldest — 5-and-a-half-year-old daughter Yogita weighs 33.5 kilograms. Their second daughter — four-year-old Aneesha weighs 47 kilos and their youngest child — one-and-a-half-year-old Harsh weighs a whopping 15 kilos.

Such is their state that the children face difficulty sitting, eating and moving around.

Rameshbhai says that all his children were normal at birth but their weight increased as the years progressed.

The mother often spends the entire day in the kitchen cooking to satiate the hunger of her overweight kids while Rameshbhai works hard to earn the daily bread.

Doctors have said that a 4-to-6 month-long treatment could cure the kids of their ailment but the family has no means to pay for the procedure.

Rameshbhai says he is struggling to meet the family's expenses but would go any length to ensure his kids lead a healthy life. "Even if I have to sell my kidney for the sake of my kids, I'll do it," says Rameshbhai.
