Injured in stone-pelting, cop dies in Kashmir

A Jammu and Kashmir Police constable, who was injured in a stone pelting incident, died of his injuries on Monday in a hospital in Srinagar, an official said.

Srinagar: A Jammu and Kashmir Police constable, who was injured in a stone pelting incident, died of his injuries on Monday in a hospital in Srinagar, an official said.

"Constable Waseem Ahmad Bhat, who was injured in stone pelting incident in Srinagar's Hazratbal area on August 29, 2014, Monday succumbed to his injuries in SKIMS (Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences) in Srinagar," a senior police officer said here.

"The wreath laying ceremony to honour the constable will be held today (Monday)."

The constable sustained a grievous head injury and was battling for life in the hospital for nearly two months before he died.
