Srinagar NIT row: Force should be used against students, says MoS Jitendra Singh

Expressing concern over the clash between students and the police at NIT Srinagar, Minister of State PMO Jitendra Singh, Tuesday, said that students must maintain peace in the campus.

New Delhi: Expressing concern over the clash between students and the police at NIT Srinagar, Minister of State PMO Jitendra Singh, Tuesday, said that students must maintain peace in the campus.

“HRD Ministry will look into NIT Srinagar matter; I spoke to CM Mehbooba Mufti as well,” Singh said, adding that force should not be used against students.

“Students should maintain peace otherwise external elements will come in to gain political mileage,” he said.

Singh, who is an MP from Jammu and Kashmir, said that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is constant touch with the state government and the DGP of Police to ensure that no untoward incident happens in future.
