Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Government here
today suspended Additional Director General of Police (ADGP),
V K Pawar for `gross negligence in taking action against
Anti-Dacoity Cell` which did not perform its defined duties.

Despite knowing about the cell`s involvement in
suspicious activities and not taking any legal or disciplinary
action against it reflected gross negligence on the part of
Pawar following which he was suspended from the service for
violating service conduct rules, official sources said.

The cell had also shown the death of an Assistant Sub
Inspector (ASI) Diwarilal Rawat in an encounter while the fact
was otherwise, official sources said.

This was established after the post-mortem report
which gave a different reason for the death of Rawat than
specified in the initial reports.

Pawar was also involved in a controversy over
releasing five SIMI activists along with the other prisoners
whose jail terms were curtailed as remission on the occasion
of Republic Day or Independence Day every year, the sources
added.
