Shirdi: With nearly 30 percent pilgrims of the Kumbh Mela in Nashik expected to visit Shirdi shrine, the Ahmednagar district administration has geared up to provide basic facilities to them.
A meeting in this regard was held yesterday which was attended by District Collector Anil Kawade, who is also the member of Saibaba Sansthan Trust, its executive officer Rajendra Jadhav and Superintendent of Police Saurabh Tripathi.
At least 1,000 extra police personnel from outside the district will be?deployed, Tripathi told PTI.
Planning of vehicular traffic, outer parking arrangements and for carrying pilgrims to the Saibaba shrine are underway, he said.
Police will also raise an outpost in the Saibaba shrine premises if the Sansthan allots place for this purpose to keep a tab on crimes like pick-pocketing and mobile thefts.
Police are also preparing a database of the criminals, Tripathi added.
The 'Kumbh Mela', where lakhs of Hindus gather, will start in Nashik from tomorrow. Shirdi is approximately 90 kms away from Nashik.
Earlier, Maharashtra's Tribal Welfare Minister Vishnu Sawra had said that more than eight crore devotees are likely to attend the Kumbh Mela.
