A local court on Thursday turned down police`s application seeking Nooriya Haveliwala`s production before it and directed them to seek her custody on February 18 when her judicial remand ends.

Mumbai: A local court on Thursday turned down police`s application seeking Nooriya Haveliwala`s production before it and directed them to seek her custody on February 18 when her judicial remand ends.
The 27-year-old beautician was arrested on January 30
after she mowed down two persons including a traffic policeman
allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Nooriya, who is presently in judicial custody, had tested
positive for high alcohol intake.

The police sought Nooriya`s custody again after a report
from the Forensic Science Lab (FSL) received yesterday
revealed that she had also consumed drugs like Cannabis
and Morphine on the night of the incident.
The court today, however, rejected the application and
directed them to seek her custody on February 18 when her
judicial custody ends.

Traffic police sub-inspector Dina Nath Shinde and one
Afzal Shaikh were killed in the accident and four other
traffic police constables sustained serious injuries.

Nooriya who was initially booked for culpable homicide
not amounting to murder and rash and negligent driving would
now also face charges under the NDPS Act for consumption of
narcotic substances.
