Army appoints Lieutenant General, Major Generals

The Army today appointed one Lieutenant General and four Major Generals for eminent posts.

New Delhi, Feb 11: The Army today appointed one Lieutenant General and four Major Generals for eminent posts.
Lieutenant General N S Brar has been appointed for the post of the General Officer Commanding 10 Corps and will take the charge on April 1.

Major General Mahipal Singh has been appointed as the next Chief of Staff Head Quarter (HQ) 14 Corps while Major General P K Chakravorty has been appointed for the post of the Master General Arty HQ Northern Command.

Major General Shashi Bala has been appointed as the Additional Director General Military Nursing Service (MNS).

She was commissioned into MNS on November 10, 1969 on completion of her Diploma in General Nursing from School of Nursing, INHS Asvini, Mumbai and Midwifery from MH Jhansi.

The General officer has distinguished career of 37 years befitting her selection to the apex and most distinguished incumbency in the career of Military Nursing Service.

She has completed her Post Certificate Ward Sister course Diploma in Nursing Education, Post Certificate B.Sc (Nursing) and Post Graduation in Obstetrical Nursing with distinctions and merit.

She has started her career as a Ward Sister at MH Jhansi and 154 GH where she had served her patients during India-Pakistan war in 1971 and counter insurgency in Eastern sector.

The officer has held various eminent positions in the Military Nursing Service throughout her career.

She was instrumental in bringing about professional reforms, in education and administration using her innovative approach.

She was given the prestigious appointment of Deputy Director Military Nursing Services at Southern Command, Pune and thereafter as Deputy Director General of Military Nursing Services at Army HQ.

The officer has also held the prestigious appointment of Research Pool Officer at Army Head Quarter in Delhi.

The General Officer has also been conferred with the title of Chairman and Member of Board of Nursing Studies Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Nashik, Nursing Education Committee of Indian Nursing Council, Core Group meeting for Diploma in Nursing Administration Programme of IGNOU and National level Member of selection committee in Armed Forces.

The Professionally committed officer is a life member of Trained Nurses Association of India and has conducted inspections at various colleges of Nursing in the country.

The officer was adjudged ‘The Best Officer’ at NOAC Course, conducted at AMC C and S in Lucknow.

The General Officer has organized conferences and workshops, presented and published a number of papers at National level. The scholarly officer has authored few chapters for IGNOU in Nursing Administration and was pioneer in introduction of computers in nursing.

At International level, the officer has attended conference on ‘Evidence Based Nursing Practice’ organized by International Honor Society Nursing, Dublin, Ireland.
