Muzaffarpur: A district court on Monday extended to November 7 the time for production of jailed controversial godman Asaram Bapu before it for his alleged uncharitable remarks on the New Delhi gangrape victim.
Muzaffarpur Chief Judicial Magistrate SP Singh had on September 21 ordered the Jodhpur jail authorities to produce Asaram before it today.
The CJM extended the time on a submission of the jail officials that they could not comply with the court`s order as Asaram had been taken to Ahmedabad on remand in connection with a sexual assault case.
The complaint petition was filed by an advocate, Sudhir Ojha, on January 8 this year against Asaram for his alleged remarks that the victim should have addressed the rapists as brothers to escape the gangrape.
