Bhopal, Sept 07: Accusing BJP-led Central government of following a dual policy on Pakistan under US pressure, senior Congress leader C K Jaffer Sharif today said the NDA had failed to check cross-border terrorism because of its own weaknesses an ambiguities.
The Vajpayee government is adopting a dual policy on Pakistan. On one hand it rules out talks with Pakistan unless cross-border terrorism is stopped and on the other favours dialogue under US pressure, he said inaugurating a convention of Madhya Pradesh Congress Minorities Department.

Criticising frequent visits to the US by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his Deputy L K Advani as well as defence minister George Fernandes, he said, “It is a matter of shame. It also exposes the weakness of the NDA government.”
The manner in which these three leaders are being presented before the world community creates doubt as to who is really heading the government, said Sharif, president of AICC Minorities Department.

Stating that cross-border terrorism was at its peak, he said, “Whenever efforts are made to hold talks with Pakistan there is a spurt in terrorism.”

Recalling a query by a reporter earlier about comparison between Advani and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, he claimed while Patel worked to unite the nation Advani played a divisive role.

He asked people belonging to minorities to exercise their franchise in the coming assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh and other states and vote for Congress to ensure the country's prosperity.
