New Delhi, Jan 03: Temperatures are plunging across North India as mercury dipped several degrees below the normal, marking Wednesday the coldest day this winter.

Most parts in North India are experiencing a severe cold wave.

Allahabad, which is hosting the Ardh Kumbh, is wrapped in a sheath of fog, which is affecting preparations for the religious congregation.

Camp fire have been set up to keep the pilgrims warm.

Meterological Department officials said that temperatures will continue to fall and cold wave conditions will prevail due to the north-westerly and north-easterly winds passing through the region.

At Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, flights continue tobe delayed or cancelled because of the fog.
