New Delhi, Aug 12: Congress today blamed Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the failure to resolve the stalemate in Parliament set off by the petrol pumps allotment controversy saying had he consulted opposition parties, the deadlock would have been sorted out.
"Vajpayee is singularly to be blamed for his failure to resolve the petrol pump deadlock. He is the leader of the house. He has not turned up in the house since the scam was exposed, nor made any kind of effort to meet opposition. If he had made an offer to come and talk with opposition, it would have been possible to resolve the crisis", party spokesman S Jaipal Reddy told reporters.

It was the government which was responsible for the
impasse on the issue in Parliament leading to its adjournment
sine die prematurely as it tried to avoid a dialogue with
the opposition and a debate in parliament as it has "many
things to conceal"

"It would have been difficult for the ruling party to answer so many questions in connection with the scam", he said
adding the opposition never wanted adjournment of Parliament
and were never consulted on the matter.

In Rajya Sabha, he said, the opposition was consulted and
it told the presiding officer that it do not want adjournment.

The opposition, Reddy said, wanted to raise another important issue regarding allotment of prime lands in prime locations of the capital by the urban development minister to various organisations affiliated, directly or indirectly, to Sangh Parivar.

He said the party would be disclosing details about these
allotments in the days to come. These plots included prime lands at Rau's avenue, Lodhi colony and other such locations
in the capital.
