Congress CEC meets, may announce more Lok Sabha poll candidates

New Delhi: The Congress` central election committee is currently meeting in the capital and may finalise names of more Lok Sabha poll candidates. In the first list released last Saturday, the Congress had announced the names of 194 candidates, including ex-Test cricketer Mohd Kaif, Infosys co-founder and Unique Identification Authority of India chairman Nandan Nilekani, Bhojpuri film star Ravi Krishan and former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee`s niece Karuna Shukla. It was also announced that party president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi will contest from their respective constituencies - Rae Bareli and Amethi. The party has also given ticket to Amita Singh, wife of Congress leader Sanjay Singh, to contest against BJP`s Varun Gandhi.
