New Delhi, Jan 10: Red carpets were rolled out today
to welcome governors of various states who had come to enjoy a
ride on Delhi's priced possession, the newly constructed state
-of-the-art, mass rapid transport system or metro.

"Billed as an answer to Delhi's problem of traffic
congestion and burgeoning population, the metro is indeed
Delhi's pride and has emerged as a nodal agency for other
states to replicate," said DMRC chairman Madan Lal Khurana
leading the VIP entourage of 26 Governors.

Lauding the contribution of the main man behind the
dream project, E Shreedharan, West Bengal Governor, Viren Shah
said, "The manner in which Sreeddharan and his team completed
the project on time is a matter of great pride."

"Denizens should learn a lesson from Kolkatans, who
consider metro their priced possession and ensure that it is
kept clean and don't tamper with the system," Shah said.

"Metro was a dream conceived by me in 1968 and I am happy
to see that my dream has turned into a reality. It will change
the face of Delhi. We will be exporting the technology to Goa
and the Rs 350 crore sky bus project announced by the Prime
Minister in Goa will be highly advanced as compared to metro,"
Goa Governor Kedarnath Sahani said.

The other states following Delhi's example include Andhra
Pradesh, Gujarat and leading the bandwagon is Karnataka where
the work on metro-rail project is in its initial stages.
