New Delhi, Jan 09: Amidst speculation about advancing of Lok Sabha polls, the Election Commission has convened a review meeting of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of all
states and union territories here today.

The meeting agenda includes among other things progress on revision of electoral rolls, issuance of photo identity cards and availability of Electronic Voting Machines
(EVMs), the sources said.

Meanwhile, the revision of electoral rolls was going on and the final publication of the rolls was expected by January 20 in many of the states, they said.

The meeting assumes significance in view of speculation of preponing the general elections by the ruling NDA coalition at the Centre by a few months.

The NDA is meeting this evening to elicit the view of coalition partners on advancing the polls from scheduled September and a final decision is expected to be taken at the two-day National Executive meet of BJP at Hyderabad from January 11.
