Ahead of next month's crucial Loya Jirga (grand tribal assembly) in Afghanistan, the Defence Minister George Fernandes is leaving on Wednesday night on an unannounced visit to Central Asian Republic of Tajikistan to hold high level parleys with Tajik leaders.
Fernandes would be in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe for
two days on Thursday and Friday and hold talks with Tajik
leaders on the situation in Afghanistan, where recently
elements of the erstwhile Taliban regime have become active again, according to highly placed sources here.
