Persian literature and research were announced yesterday by the
Ghalib Institute.

While the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Ghalib Award for Urdu
research and criticism was given to Fuzail Jafri, the award
for Persian research and criticism went to Abdul Wadood Azhar,
a statement issued by the Ghalib institute said.

The awards for Urdu prose and poetry were awarded to Abid
Suhail and Akhtar Saeed Khan respectively while the Humsub
Ghalib Award for Urdu drama went to Yograj Tandon.

Kamal Ahmad Siddiqui was recognised for his contribution
for total literary services while Mohd Aslam Pervez was
awarded for literary services for popularising science in
Urdu.

The awards, instituted in the memory of legendary poet
Mirza Ghalib, carry Rs 25,000 in cash each, besides an
insignia and a citation, the release said.
