Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh said India would like to see a strong and stable Afghanistan and exuded confidence that the country will manage its transition in 2014 and beyond. "India has always been and will remain committed to assisting Afghanistan in its reconstruction. We have no exit strategy and we will continue to work in partnership with the Afghan government.” "We truly believe that strong and stable Afghanistan is in our national interest. India is confident that Afghanistan will manage its transition in 2014 and beyond," she said at a book release function. The Presidential Elections were held in Afghanistan on April 5 to elect a successor of incumbent Hamid Karzai who had come to power after fall of the Taliban in 2001. "India is committed to building a peaceful and democratic Afghanistan. It is in our interest for Afghanistan to succeed," she said. Earlier, she released a book on Afghanistan titled `Afghanistan 2014: Weathering Transition`. The book has been published by the Delhi Policy Group.
