New Delhi, Apr 16: The Lok Janshakti Party today said the US-led military action in Iraq could pave the way for American intervention in bilateral disputes plaguing the
Indian subcontinent.

Criticising US President George W Bush of imposing
American hegemony throughout the world, party president Ram
Vilas Paswan said these developments cast a disturbing shadow
over India.

"The United States has already made it clear that it
intends to facilitate a dialogue over the Kashmir issue
between India and Pakistan," he said adding it would mean
interference in the internal affairs of our country.

The Bush administration has already given indications
that it will target Syria and Iran after the campaign in Iraq
was over, he said.

Addressing party workers at a protest demonstration
against the war, Paswan criticised the NDA government for not
taking a firm stand on the issue and condemn the coalition
action in the strongest terms.

He also called for rehabilitation work in Iraq to be
supervised by the United Nations.

Accusing Washington of adopting double standards, former
Union minister Arif Mohammad Khan said the US uses force to
deal with terrorism against itself, while advises restraint
for India under similar circumstances.

An effigy of Bush and some American and British products
were burnt as a mark of protest and Paswan urged people to
boycott such goods.

Taking a shot at the VHP, Paswan said "its recent
activities created tension in the country making it vulnerable
from within."
