Kolkata, May 08: Nationalist Trinamool Congress
supremo Mamata Banerjee today Rubbished the idea of a third
front or a Congress-led government at the Centre and appealed
to Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to join the NDA.

''I will appeal to Mulayam Singh to join the NDA which
will return to power under the leadership of Atal Bihari
Vajpayee,'' Banerjee told newsmen here when asked to comment
on the SP leader's statement that smaller parties would desert
the NDA and join his party during government formation.

To a question on the formation of a third front
government, the NTC chairperson ruled out its possibility or
that of a Congress-led government after the election as was
being propagated by the left.

Banerjee also did not attach much importance to exit poll
results which predicted a hung Parliament, and said ''These
are all calculations and not the conclusion. The conclusion is
Vajpayeeji is going to be the prime minister again.''

Banerjee said that if the people were allowed to vote
freely, there would be many surprise results in the state.
She, however, refused to say how many seats her party would
win.

Appealing to the electorate to support the NTC-BJP
combine, she said, ''The more number of seats we get, the more
we can work for the state.''
