Kathmandu, June 21: While appreciating India's help
in its drive against Maoists, Nepal today sought New Delhi's
cooperation to hand over some of the top rebel leaders who
might be hiding in the country.

"We have information that some of the top Maoist leaders
are hiding in India and we hope that India will help in
arresting them,” Minister of State for Home Raj Kandel told
a news agency.

"In the past also India has helped Nepal by handing over
some wounded terrorists, who were undertaking medical
treatment in different nursing homes", Kandel said.

He said Indian police had yesterday arrested nine Maoists
from various places and handed them over to Nepal.

Kandel also said India has been providing military
hardware training and logistic support to Nepal in its fight
against the menace.

Meanwhile, Maoists shot dead an army personnel when they
ambushed an army patrolling team in Khara area of Rukum
district, 400 kms away from Kathmandu, security sources said.
