New Delhi, Jan 28: Categorically denying his party's proximity
with the BJP, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party
President Mulayam Singh today said the mere mention of it was like
the biggest ''political abuse'' for him.

''The BJP is my biggest political rival and any proximity to it
can not be dreamt of,'' Mr Singh told reporters after the SP
parliamentary party meeting here.

Such propaganda was being spread with the malafide intention to
prevent the SP from emerging as a potent political adversary of the
BJP, Mr Yadav said.

''Which party, other than the SP, has fought against communal
forces like the BJP in Uttar Pradesh,'' he asked, adding that his
party was ideologically committed to demolition of communal forces
in the country and will continue to do so.

''Even if somebody makes a casual mention of closeness between
SP-BJP, I consider it the biggest 'political abuse' inflicted on
me,'' the SP leader said. There was never any remotest possibility
of the SP coming close to BJP and the national democratic alliance,
he said.

Mr Yadav went on to equate the BJP with the Bahujan Samaj Party,
saying both the parties had allied thrice and were communal to the
core.
