Ahmedabad, Sept 26: Defence minister George Fernandes today said the terrorist attack on Akshardham temple was ‘pre-planned’. He also said that the execution showed that it was hatched in a manner in which attempt was made to storm Parliament house on December 13.
“Fernandes shared his opinion on the dastardly act with
Chief Minister Narendra Modi at a meeting at Gandhinagar, an
official spokesman told a news agency.
Fernandes, who arrived here this morning, congratulated
the state government and the people for successful elimination
of the terrorists who had attacked the devotees at the temple,
he said.
“He also offered Modi the services of army. However, with
peace prevailing there was not much need of army any more,”
the spokesman added.
Fernandes told the chief minister that he had the liberty
to decide on the timeframe for complete withdrawal of the
army.
