New Delhi, Dec 26: It was an extended birthday bash for poet-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee this evening who revealed he would return to his first love--poetry--once he is out of politics.
This was because a function here virtually turned into a poetry recitation programme with the Prime Minister himself participating in it.

The occasion was release of two collections of Hindi poems--"Shankh Ko Terti Bansuri" by ram Kumar Chaturvedi 'Chanchal" and "Kutch Deh, Kutch Videh" by Raj Narayan Bisariya by the Prime Minister.

Stating that he and the two poets belonged to Gwalior, Vajpayee went down the memory lane, recalling the many "Kavi Sammelans" attended by him along with the late Shiv Mangal Singh "Suman". In his inimitable style, he also made it known
that he was not that enamoured by the standard of such "Sammelans" now.

Enjoying every bit of the two hours away from the rustle bustle of politics, Vajpayee enthralled the audience by reciting his famous poem "Unchai" in which he has invoked the lord against conferring him with an overbearing greatness as he would lose the human touch.

The Prime Minister sent peels of laughter among the audience earlier by abruptly giving up the idea of reciting his poem 'Rah Kaunsi Jau Mein' (which way should I take)
remarking "if I recite this poem, people may ask why I am leading the nation when I am not sure of the road."

As regards himself, the Prime Minister said he would return to the world of poetry once he was done with politics.
