Kathmandu, Jan 17: Serials telecast by Indian channels is the latest rage among the audience in Kathmandu, who were till recently hooked to Pakistani-dominated TV entertainment.
After the Bollywood movies hit the Nepalese capital's big
screen, now it is the Indian serials which have become the hot
favourite.
Serials like Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasauti Zindagi Ki, Des Me Nikala Hoga Chaand are making the audiences, particularly housewives glued to their idiot box.
While soap operas attract the average audience, it is the
children's serial Sakalaka Boom that is fetching big money to
vendors here.
The "magic" pencil, used by Sanju in the children's
comedy, is being sold like hot cakes in the streets of
Kathmandu.
"I sell some 300 pencils daily," a street vendor said.
About 600 "magic" pencils, which fetches from Rs 20 to Rs
50 per piece, is sold every day in the heart of the capital.
Another children's serial Son Pari is also equally
popular among the teenagers here.
