Islamabad, May 25: Pakistan today said India's proposal for intelligence sharing on cross border terrorism is possible only if trust and confidence was created through dialogue.
"Theoretically, everything is possible. But practically, the confidence, trust and mutual understanding of each other is imperative, which could only be achieved through dialogue,"
Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri said reacting to his Indian counterpart Yaswant Sinha's proposal to share intelligence.
The only way to have confidence, trust and mutual understanding is to have a dialogue. Otherwise, there would be no positive impact on relations between the two countries,"
Kasuri was quoted as saying by official app news agency.
"We can move forward through dialogue and achieve practically what is theoretically possible at the moment," he said.
Once Pakistan and India have "trust and confidence in each other through dialogue, then we would be able to resolve all contentious issues between the two countries and would be
able to have such sort of "mechanisms," he said.
Pakistan had earlier rejected India's proposal for joint patrolling of the Line of Control (LoC). Instead, Pakistan suggested monitoring of LoC by international observers and strengthening of the UN monitoring group.
