Kathmandu, Aug 19: The third round of talks between Nepal government and Maoist insurgents continued today on the third day, with the government deciding to ask the rebels to take more time to reconsider their proposals.
During today's meeting in dang district, 400 kms west of Kathmandu, the two sides have identified six agenda for discussion and agreed to discuss the issues one by one on priority basis.

They include the political issue, social and economic reforms, procedural matters, management of army and weapons, reconstruction and rehabilitation and miscellaneous issues.

Talking to reporters in Nepalgunj, government negotiator and information minister Kamal Thapa said that the political agenda put forward by the government should be put up for public debate.

Thapa said, "We are going to propose the rebels take a few days to review our proposal for reforms" and added "instead of rejecting our proposals they should at least study it and tell us where we can make changes."

The intellectuals, political parties and the members of the civil society have the right to discuss, debate and express their opinions on the government proposal and give their reactions, he said.

Besides Thapa, Nepal government is being represented by finance minister Prakash Chandra Lohani. Baburam Bhattarai and Krishna Bahadur Mahra are taking part in the parley representing Maoists.

Maoist rebels on the first day of the talks rejected government's proposals for sweeping constitutional reforms.
