Two of four injured in boiler blast succumb to burns in TN

Two of the four labourers, who sustained burns in a boiler blast in a tyre melting unit on the city outskirts last week, died in the wee hours on Tuesday, police said.

Coimbatore: Two of the four labourers, who sustained burns in a boiler blast in a tyre melting unit on the city outskirts last week, died in the wee hours on Tuesday, police said.

Four workers, hailing from Bihar and Odisha, were seriously injured, when a boiler, melting old tyres to make some kind of oil, burst on April 22 at Periyanaickenpalayam, some 20 km from here.

The injured - Ranjan, Chandan, Shivan and Shivashankar, were undergoing treatment in the Government Hospital.

However, Ranjan succumbed to injuries past midnight yesterday while Chandan, who was shifted to a private hospital died in the early hours today, police said.
