BJP leader, brother shot dead in UP

A senior BJP leader and his brother were shot dead and five others injured by unidentified assailants in Kasimpur area of Aligarh district.

Aligarh: A senior BJP leader and his
brother were on Thursday shot dead and five others injured by
unidentified assailants in Kasimpur area of Aligarh district, a
senior police officer said here.

District BJP vice-president Yashpal Singh Chauhan and
his brother Anil Chauhan were shot dead near Harduaganj power
plant by the assailants, who came in a car, SP Man Singh
Chauhan said.

Five passerbys were also injured in the indiscriminate
firing, he said.

Yashpal had contested the 2007 UP assembly poll on BJP
ticket from Barauli constituency, but lost to Jaiveer Singh of
BSP, he said.

Prima facie property-related dispute seemed to be the
motive behind the murder, the SP added.
