Agra: Enraged after being forced by her groom to dance on an item number at her wedding, a bride in Uttar Pradesh called off her marriage and walked away from the state.
The incident took place in Firozabad district of Agra.
According to an eye-witness, the friends of groom demanded that the couple take to stage and dance on a popular Bollywood song. However, the bride refused the idea completely after which she was forcibly taken to the dance floor by the groom.
"When bride’s uncle tried to intervene between the bride and groom but was slapped hard, feeling humiliated, the bride threw away her garland and called off the wedding," the eye-witness told CNN IBN.
Shocked by the incident, the girl threw away her garland and announced to call off her marriage with the guy.
The eye-witness also added that unhappy with the whole incident, the groom and his relatives got into a scuffle with the bride's side following which someone from the venue called up police.
At least six men along with groom and his father were detained by the police but were released later.
