Moderate to heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: Moderate to heavy rains or thundershowers occurred at most places in Uttar Pradesh in the past 24 hours, the Met office said here today.

South-west monsoon remained normal in east UP and was active in the western part of the state. Dhampur received the highest rainfall at 22 cms, followed by Nagina 20 cms, Biswan, Allahabad 10 cms each, Purwa 9 cms, Mawana 8 cms, Ballia, Meerut 7 cms each, Nazibabad, Lucknow 6 cms each, Kanpur and Deoband 5 cms each, the Met office said. The sky will generally remain cloudy with spells of rains or thundershowers. Maximum and Minimum temperature would be around 30 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively, it said in its forecast.
