Three more arrested on charges of misappropriation of funds

Three more persons, including an employee of the health department, have been arrested in connection with alleged financial irregularities in family welfare department, police said here on Saturday.

Dinesh Singh, a contractual employee, has been arrested along with two contractors Ravindra Bahadur Singh and Gauri Shanker Singh for alleged irregularities in National Rural Health Mission, they said.

The arrests were made on a complaint lodged by deputy director Rajendra Singh at Wazirganj police station yesterday, they said.

With this total seven persons, including a deputy chief medical officer, have been arrested for financial anomalies in the department.

While Deputy CMO Y S Sachan, district administration officer C S Yadav and senior clerk P C Verma were arrested on April 5, another clerk Sanjay Anand was arrested on Thursday.

An FIR had also been registered against CMO Lucknow A K Shukla, who has been removed from the post following examination of records by the police and STF.

In the FIR, Singh alleged that the CMO misused his powers and helped his associates in withdrawing government funds by producing fake bills.

The bungling and misappropriation in health and family welfare department was detected during an inquiry into the murder of CMO Family Welfare B P Singh on April 2.

Two ministers Babu Singh Khushwaha and Anant Kumar Mishra had also quit due to the ongoing controversy.
