Heroin worth Rs 1 crore seized in Uttarakhand; accused arrested

A man was arrested here on charges of illegal drug trafficking after a parcel of 10 grams of heroin worth nearly Rs one crore in the international market was seized from his possession.

Khatima (U'khand): A man was arrested here on charges of illegal drug trafficking after a parcel of 10 grams of heroin worth nearly Rs one crore in the international market was seized from his possession.

Harjinder was arrested yesterday when a parcel of 10 grams of heroin was seized from his possession, SSP of Udhamsingh Nagar district Nilesh Anand Bahrney said.

The parcel was meant to be sent to UAE by speed post, he said, adding the factory for which the man worked has been sealed, he said.

During inquiry of the accused, it came to the fore that a factory allegedly dispatched heroin worth lakhs of rupees to a number of foreign countries including England and Denmark by speed post.

On the basis of facts revealed during his?interrogation, the premises of the drug company was raided and sealed. The factory owner and his employees are at large, the SSP said.

The accused has been arrested under the NDPS act and is being interrogated to ascertain whether the drug trafficking racket had international ramifications, he said.
