BK Hariprasad to head Congress screening committee for Bengal polls

The Congress on Friday appointed BK Hariprasad as chairman of the screening committee for the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal.

New Delhi: The Congress on Friday appointed BK Hariprasad as chairman of the screening committee for the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal.

The screening committee was constituted by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

"Bhakta Charan Das will be one of the members of the screening for the upcoming elections. The general secretary/in-charge of state, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president and leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) will also be members of the screening committee," said Janardan Dwivedi, Congress general secretary.

The polls in West Bengal will be held in six phases starting from April 4 and go on till May 5. The elections in the state will be held in 294 constituencies.
