British High Commissioner condoles Basu

New Delhi: British High Commissioner to
India Richard Stagg has expressed his condolence over the
death of the CPI-M patriarch Jyoti Basu.

"I was very sad to hear about the death of Basu. He was
respected not only in India but also in the United Kingdom for
many of his visionary policies and qualities of leadership,"
Stagg said in a letter addressed to the Chief Minister of West
Bengal.

Basu was one of the greatest leaders of the Left movement
in India who played a pivotal role in national politics, he
added.
