West Bengal polls: TMC asks EC to restrict broadcast of Narada scribe's programmes

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress on Friday asked the Election Commission to restrict the media from broadcasting any programme of Narada news editor-in-chief Mathew Samuel.

In its complaint before the poll panel the party said since the Narada sting operation, which purportedly showed its party leaders accepting cash from a fictitious company, is now sub-judice and is also referred to Lok Sabha Ethics Committee no broadcast of it should be allowed.

"We have forwarded their (TMC) application to the Election Commission," additional chief electoral officer Dibyendu Sarkar said.

Samuel was in Kolkata during the day where he attended few programmes and also held a press conference.

Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal Sunil Gupta held a video conference meeting with all observers and senior police officers to review preparedness for the fourth phase of polling on Monday.
