‘Batman’ massacre: ‘Irritated and crazy’ suspect ‘spitting at guards’

James Holmes was reported to be unapologetic and irrational, and has been put under ‘suicide watch’ in solitary confinement.

Washington: “Dark Knight” massacre suspect James Holmes was reported to be unapologetic and irrational, and has been put under ‘suicide watch’ in solitary confinement in a Colorado jail on Saturday.

Holmes remained in his murderous “Joker” persona after arriving at the Arapahoe Detention Center, a jail source confirmed.

“Let’s just say he hasn’t shown any remorse. He thinks he’s acting in a movie,” the New York Daily News quoted an employee, as saying.

Holmes has been accused of in the midnight massacre incident, during the screening of the new Batman movie, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ at movie hall in Denver, where he reportedly set off a smoke bomb and killed 14 people.

“He was spitting at the door and spitting at the guards. He’s spitting at everything. Dude was acting crazy,” an inmate said.

“All the inmates were talking about killing him. Everyone was looking for an opportunity. It’s all they could talk about,” an inmate, Wayne Medley, 24, said as he left the facility.

Inmate Dima Danilov, 22, said the suspect’s face was covered with a red towel when he arrived at the jail about two hours after the shooting incident.

Holmes, who was a PhD student in the neuroscience department of the University of Colorado at Denver, but withdrew from the doctoral program, was offered a breakfast of grits and sausage, and a ham sandwich for lunch in the jail and is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday, the report said.
