Vienna: The UN atomic watchdog said today
Iran has not officially informed it of its decision to build
10 new uranium enrichment plants after a weekend announcement
that drew condemnation from world powers.

The International Atomic Energy Agency "is aware
through media reports of Iran`s announcement that it intends
to build 10 new uranium enrichment facilities," said agency
spokeswoman Gill Tudor.

"Iran has not yet informed the agency directly of its
decision. The agency will be seeking clarification from Iran
on its announcement."

On Sunday, a defiant Iranian government led by
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed to build 10 new uranium
enrichment plants and also study a plan to process the
material to 20 per cent purity after the IAEA censured
Tehran over its nuclear programme.
