Pittsburgh: American diplomatic missions in South Africa were closed for a day because of specific terrorist threat, the State Department said.
"It was pretty credible information regarding the US Government facilities in South Africa," the State Department spokesman, Ian Kelly, told reporters at his daily press
briefing, adding the US diplomatic missions and other facilities were closed in South Africa as a precautionary measure.
"We have notified the American community in South Africa to remain vigilant when they`re in the vicinity of US Government facilities," Kelly said.
"The Embassy is tracking developments very closely and assessing its security posture and formulating an appropriate course of action," he said.
