Pathankot terror attack: IAF's Court of Inquiry to 'identify lapses and fix responsibility'

Pathankot: The Indian Air Force is likely to constitute a Court of Inquiry to probe alleged lapses at the Pathankot air base, which was attacked by Pakistan-backed terrorists on Saturday.

According to sources, the IAF will constitute a high-level to ascertain how nearly half a dozen terrorists got inside the highly secured air base and seized it for over 60 hours.

As per reports, specific instructions have been given from the highest levels of government to the top leadership of the Indian Air Force to identify the lapses and to 'fix responsibility'.

It was also reported that nearly 12 hours before the attack started, the Air Force Station in Charge as well as other commanders were offered central paramilitary security but that was refused.

A Kashmiri terror conglomerate called United Jihad Council has claimed responsibility for the attack. The Pakistan-backed United Jihad Council claimed that the attack was carried out by the Kashmiri terrorists associated with 'Highway Squad'.

The government, however, rejected claims of United Jihad Council taking responsibility for the Pathankot terrorist attack by saying ''this is deflectionary tactics".
