Gurmehar Kaur row: Madhur Bhandarkar‏ reacts to Javed Akhtar's 'hardly literate' tweet

Few days after the Delhi University’s (DU) Ramjas college saw violent clashes between student groups, Gurmehar - a Lady Sri Ram College (LSRC) student initiated a social media campaign targeting Bhartiya Janta Party’s (BJP) student outfit Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

New Delhi: Bollywood filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar on Tuesday took to Twitter to criticise lyricist Javed Akhtar's 'hardly literate' tweet. The 48-year-old director stated that education has nothing to do with freedom of expression.

"Sir Lack of education has nothing to do with freedom of expression.I am a 6th fail student,still nobody can stop me from expressing my views," he tweeted.

Here, Madhur was reacting to Javed's social media post which said, “If a hardly literate player or a wrestler troll a pacifist daughter of a martyr its understandable but whats wrong with some educated folks.”

The noted joined the much-talked-about Gurmehar Kaur debate when he allegedly criticised Yogeshwar Dutt and cricketer Virendra Sehwag for 'mocking' her.
